BHOOMI PUJAN OF RAMLEELA GROUND HELD
The preparations for organising yet another grand Dussherra this year has started. The bhoomi poojan and havan for the 21st Dwarka Ramleela Mahotsav was held with religious fervour by the Association of Social and Cultural Events to formally launch the activities that will culminate in the grand celebrations. This year, Dussehrra falls on 24th October. Dussehra (also known as Vijayadashami, Dasara, or sometimes Dashain) is celebrated on the tenth day of the month of Ashwin. Dwarka Ramleela Mahotsav committee is the oldest committee of Dwarka and Dussehra Mahotsav is the most awaited event. The burning of Raavan effigy and firecrackers is the most spectacular event. But before that for ten days Ramleela will be performed. The organisers promise the celebrations this year too will exceed and surpass all past years! According to Mukesh Sinha, organizer, “Bhoomi pujan of the ground at Sector-11 was held on 20th September. At the function, the Ramleela artistes presented a preview and trailer of the programmes that would be presented at the Dussehra festival. All got a glimpse of what excitement is in store. The ground is now levelled. “All committee members attended the bhoomi pujan. Havan was performed and Ram Dhwaj was hoisted followed by Prasad and lunch distribution.” The Bhoomi Poojan was attended by a large number of well- wishers, patrons and artistes. Says Mukesh Sinha, ‘We are always striving to improve and better on our past performance. And we are indeed grateful to our patrons, and all associated with this organisation for their unstinted support which has always been our source of strength and motivation.”
I salute the soil of this land where Dwarka Ramleela Mahotsav has been celebrated for the last 20 years. The committee under the leadership of Mukesh Sinha has been organizing this mahotsav to educate and enhance the knowledge of Hindu culture through Ramleela manchan. Through enactment of Ramleela, a message of brotherhood, religion, culture and ideology are given to the younger generations to follow. This is one of the best mediums to convey the teachings of sanatan dharma. I suggest Dwarkaites to visit and watch Ramleela with their family, particularly the young generation.

I have been the part of this Ramleela committee for 3-4 years and have experienced professionalism in this organization. The committee comprises socially active residents of the sub city and they put in sincere and honest efforts to make the ramleela a grand success. Today, the bhoomi pujan has been solemnized and now onwards the committee members will meet on a day to day basis to discuss the modalities to execute the plans. This year, the manchan team looks quite professional and Dwarkaites are going to have a wonderful ram leela mahotsav.

We always try to do better than the previous years. This time we will have an extraordinary set on the stage. This has been designed by one the renowned architects of Delhi and it's going to be massive. The height of the set will be approx 61fts from the ground and illumination will make it look grand. I request Dwarkaites to be a part of this celebration.
