This time we introduce you to Dr. Manisha Sharma, Principal, Venkateshwar International School, Sector-10
DR. MANISH SHARMA – A DYNAMIC LADY
Dr. Manish Sharma is Principal of Venkateshwar International School, Sector -10 Dwarka. Emotionally intelligent and empathetic, Dr. Manisha Sharma understands the diverse needs of her school community and strives to create a supportive environment where every student can thrive. She handles challenges with resilience and diplomacy, balancing the demands of educational leadership with a genuine passion for nurturing young minds. Dr. Manisha says, “I strongly believe that the role of a Principal is that of a community leader, not merely a school head. I have always taken this responsibility very seriously.” Manisha Sharma’s contributions/ achievements as a Principal that is making a difference can be divided under 4 heads-
1. Professional Achievements: Awards and accolades are important only because they come with a certain validation of one’s good work. Dr. Sharma has been fortunate to have been felicitated on various platforms. The Global Edu Beacon of the Year 2023-24 by GSLC Group, the Virangana Awards 2024 by EduTv, the prestigious Education Leader of the Year Award 2023 by Educ, the Top 100 School Principals in India by Brainwonders at the Eduleaders Summit on 8th July 2022, Principal par Excellence award 2022 by IIHM Delhi, Visionary Leader Recognition by Knowledge Review Magazine, UMA’s Shiksha Gaurav Puraskar 2023, the most prestigious award for educationists, the State Teachers’ Award 2022 by Delhi Govt, the Extra Mile Education Award 2022 by CBSE Bharat Sahodaya, Certificate of Excellence for Leadership in Education by Dwarka City Newspaper, the Global Principal’s Award 2022 by AKS Education Award- all for excellent leadership acumen and significant contribution in the field of education.
2. Initiatives and Programs- For the innovative programs or initiatives that Dr. Sharma has introduced
that benefited the school and its students. She received the India K-12 Award 2023 by Edrok-Education India’s Leading Magazine for bringing needed reforms in K-12 Education. She also received an Award by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti for embodying and carrying forward Gandhi’s way of life and thought. The award ceremony was held at Rajghat. Dr. Sharma has received the Education Leader of the Year Award 2023 by Education World in recognition of outstanding contribution to curriculum and teaching innovation as well as professional development and mentoring.
3, Community Engagement: Dr. Sharma has always been in forefront regarding community welfare activities. She informs, “It has been my constant effort to initiate projects that have strengthened the bond between the school and the local community. Another step that I’m very passionate about is the Daayitva Club of the school. Senior students attended internship program organised by Helpage India on 3- 5th June. The students visited an old age home and spent quality time with elderly people. They also provided their services in the ambulance- spreading awareness about diabetes and helped doctors in filling the forms, distributing medicines to underprivileged people of Kakrola village. The school regularly reinforces awareness about various SDGs.” On April 22nd, the Daaiytva Club organised Earth Day celebration to raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainability. Students created vibrant posters highlighting the importance of protecting our planet and took a collective pledge to adopt eco-friendly habits for a sustainable future. The event aimed to inspire students to become responsible stewards of the environment and make a positive impact on the community.
4. Personal Journey: Dr. Manisha Sharma says, “My motivation for entering the education field has been my adoration of my father who was an eminent educator of our town and a major influence in my life .Today, I have 34 years of experience with prestigious schools across India, in various roles- as a senior teacher, head of department, and school administrator and the last 15+ Years as Principal and Vice Principal. I have been invited to Present papers on mental health and well-being at CBSE National Conference in Guwahati. I have recently been appointed the CBSE Reviewer for SQAA and am an active member of CBSE Skill Edu Mission.”
