POLICE PUBLIC MEET

An interaction between residents of Dwarka and police officials was held recently. This was organised with an aim to bring the police and public on a common platform for addressing problems and finding solutions to these. This meeting focused on crime and security issues in Dwarka, Cybercrime, police public coordination etc. and was held at Indian Heights School in Sector- 23 for the benefit of residents.



Senior police officials including DCP. Dwarka, Ankit Kumar Singh, Addl. DCP Nishant Gupta, ACP, Madan Lal Meena, SHO, Sunil Kumar Ranjan, SHO, Cybercrime Birendra Kumar and Inspector Sandeep Malik attended this meeting. Issues such as anti-social activities, drunk behaviour, drug trafficking etc were discussed. DCP, Ankit Singh complimented organisers for this initiative. He said that there were many new initiatives from the police to help and ease the problems of the public. For example, e-FIRs could be filed for many cases such as vehicle thefts etc. Police would come to the complainant’s residence to follow up the matter. He said that the public should be aware and vigilant and 75% of the crimes were related to cybercrime and these could be prevented through a vigilant and responsible attitude of the public. He exhorted the residents to be proactive and be the eyes and ears of the police force and be a part of the police fraternity. Addl. DCP, Nishant Gupta requested the citizens to be the partners of the police in tackling crime and cooperate with them. They should not be afraid of being witness to any crime that takes place and report this to the police. The public would have the full protection of the police. ACP, Madanlal Meena stressed on the importance of verification of tenants whenever residents let out their property as this safeguards their own interest. Inspector, Sandeep Malik highlighted the main provisions of the new rules relating to criminal rules or Bharat Nyaya Samhita. This was for the benefit of the citizens and eliminated the need to visit the police station many times as in the past. According to S S Chatwal, General Secretary, Dwarka Forum, “Such interactions are much welcome and should be held regularly. They would help in controlling encroachments of public property, which is a big nuisance in Dwarka”. According to Subhash Yadav, a resident, the issues of illegal parking, should be tackled as also the issue of alcohol consumption in public drinking which causes a lot of nuisance to the public. Vir Singh and Rakesh Kumar, residents suggested that traffic management and unauthorised parking and rash driving should be checked regularly.
