Door-To-Door Voter Verification Drive Across Dwarka

Residents across Dwarka have started having visits from Booth Level Officers (BLOs) as the Election Commission of India (ECI) rolls out the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. The month-long exercise aims to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the voter list while removing ineligible entries before the next elections. The door-to-door verification drive started from June 30 and will continue to July 29, during which more than 13,000 BLOs across Delhi will visit every household. In Dwarka, BLOs have already begun reaching out to residents in group housing societies and residential colonies, distributing two copies of the Enumeration Form to every registered voter. One copy of the form is to be filled, signed and returned to the BLO, while the second copy is meant for the voter's record. BLOs are also assisting residents in filling out the forms and answering queries related to the verification process. Family members can submit the completed form on behalf of a voter who is not available at home.

Voters, who prefer digital services or are temporarily away from their residence can also submit the completed Enumeration Form online through the ECINET mobile application or the voters.eci.gov.in portal using their mobile number and EPIC (Voter ID) number. The Special Intensive Revision is being carried out under the supervision of the Election Commission to maintain an accurate and updated electoral roll. Political parties are also participating in the process through Booth Level Agents (BLAs), while awareness campaigns and special assistance camps will be organised to help voters complete the verification. After completion of the house-to-house exercise, the Draft Electoral Roll will be published on August 5, allowing residents to verify whether their names have been correctly included. Those whose names are missing or require corrections will be able to submit the prescribed forms before the publication of the Final Electoral Roll on October 7.

"BLOs are visiting every society and residential area in Dwarka to make the verification process convenient for citizens. We appeal to all residents to cooperate, verify the identity card of the visiting BLO and complete the Enumeration Form without delay," said Manik Gupta, a BLO. Residents have welcomed the initiative. R.K. Sharma, a resident of Sector 12, said, "The BLO visited our apartment complex and explained the entire process patiently. It is reassuring that the Election Commission is ensuring every genuine voter is included." Another resident from Sector 22 remarked, "Many senior citizens in our society found the door-to-door service extremely helpful. It saves them the effort of visiting government offices." The Election Commission has advised all eligible voters in Dwarka to complete the verification process during the BLO's visit or through the online portal to avoid any inconvenience during future elections.

Manik Verma, BLO talks to Dwarka city and clears some FAQ -
What is the Delhi SIR exercise?
The SIR is a voter verification drive conducted by the Election Commission to ensure that Delhi's electoral roll is accurate and up to date. During the exercise, BLOs visit every household to verify voter details, enroll eligible new voters and identify duplicate, shifted or deceased voters. The house-to-house verification in Delhi runs from June 30 to July 29.

What if you're not home when the BLO visits?
If your house is locked when the BLO visits, your name is not removed from the voter list immediately. Under the SIR guidelines, the BLO is required to make at least three visits before treating the verification as incomplete. If no one is available, the officer may leave the enumeration form at your home or with the building's security or another designated person so that you can complete it later. They will also return for follow-up visits.

What if you are away for a long time?
If you know you won't be at home during the verification period, you don't have to wait for the BLO. You can fill in and submit the enumeration form online through the Election Commission's voter portal or the Voter Helpline app. The form can also be submitted offline at designated revision centres such as government offices, schools or polling stations before the deadline.

Do you need to submit documents?
At the enumeration stage, voters are generally not required to submit identity documents along with the form. A signed and completed enumeration form is sufficient. However, if the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) later seeks verification, documents such as a passport, birth certificate, educational certificate or other approved government records may be requested.

What if you never receive or return the form?
Missing the form altogether can create problems. If you neither receive nor submit the enumeration form before the draft electoral roll is prepared, your name may not appear in the draft or the final voter list. To avoid this, the Election Commission advises eligible voters to submit the form online or offline even if the BLO could not reach them.

How can you check your details?
Once the draft electoral roll is published, you can verify your details using your name, EPIC number or constituency information on the Election Commission's voter portal or the Delhi CEO website. If you spot an error or your name is missing, you can file a claim or objection during the notified correction period.
