Q: Can you tell us a bit about your background and what inspired you to join law enforcement?
I began my law enforcement career on May 10, 1995, inspired by an SHO from Sonipat City Police Station who utilized innovative methods, such as publicly displaying criminals' nameplates. With an MBA (1993) and a B.Ed. (1994), I am proud to be the first in my family to join the police force, with my nephews continuing this legacy through the sports quota.
Q: What previous roles have you held, and how have they prepared you for your current position?
I have served as a sub-inspector, traffic inspector, and SHO in various locations, including Civil Lines and Delhi University’s North Campus. These roles provided me with valuable experience and insights into effective policing, preparing me well for my current role as SHO of Sector-23, Dwarka.
Q: As the new SHO of Sector-23 Dwarka, what are your main goals, and how do you plan to achieve them?
My main goals are to address rising street crime, improve traffic management, and enhance crime prevention strategies. I plan to achieve these through increased community engagement, regular meetings with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), and improved patrolling.
Q: Dwarka has a mix of rural, semi-urban, and urban areas. How do you plan to manage the unique challenges each area presents?
I will address the diverse needs of Dwarka’s areas by focusing on tailored crime prevention, conducting awareness programs, and engaging with residents to address specific needs, ensuring effective management across all segments.
Q: What are your immediate priorities for Sector-23?
My immediate priorities include tackling the rise in street crime, improving traffic conditions, and implementing solutions for crime-related issues to ensure safety and security.
Q: What initiatives do you plan to introduce to enhance safety in Sector-23 Dwarka?
I plan to enhance community interaction through awareness programs, improve traffic management, and implement targeted crime prevention strategies to boost overall safety.
Q: What challenges do you anticipate, and how do you plan to overcome them?
Key challenges include traffic congestion and accidents, particularly with the ongoing development of the Dwarka Expressway. I will address these by installing speed cameras, signboards, and speed breakers to manage traffic and reduce accidents.
Q: How do you plan to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community?
I aim to strengthen the police-community relationship by being approachable, actively listening to concerns, and fostering trust through transparent communication and collaboration.
