IN CONVERSATION WITH GIRISH KUMAR SINGH: SHO Dwarka North


Inspector Girish Kumar Singh, the newly appointed SHO of Dwarka North Police Station, is widely respected for his unwavering commitment to the rule of law. Known for his integrity and strong ethical standards, he has built a reputation as a highly lawful and principled officer throughout his career. His dedication to upholding justice and ensuring that legal protocols are strictly followed has earned him admiration both within the police force and from the communities he has served. Inspector Singh's approach to policing is grounded in fairness, transparency, and the belief that every individual deserves to be treated with respect and dignity under the law. His track record of law enforcement reflects his steadfast commitment to maintaining order while ensuring that his actions are guided by a deep sense of responsibility to the people he protects. Dwarka City talked to new SHO to know his plans about Dwarka-

Q: Can you briefly introduce yourself, including your education and family background?

A: I began my police career in 1995 as a Sub-Inspector and currently serve as the SHO. I hold a Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree (1992), a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree (1990), and an LLB (2014). My family's strong emphasis on education and social service greatly influenced my decision to join the police force.

Q: When did you join the police force, and what motivated you to pursue this career?
A: I joined the police force in 1995, driven by a strong desire to serve society and enhance public safety. The opportunity to make a meaningful impact and uphold the law has been a major motivating factor throughout my career.

Q: Could you share details about your previous postings in Delhi?
A: Throughout my career, I have held significant roles across Delhi, starting as a Sub-Inspector in Sri Niwas Puri. My postings included Sarita Vihar, Sangam Vihar, Okhla Industrial Area, and Rajouri Garden. As SHO of Jafarpur Kalan, I focused on maintaining law and order. I also served as an SI and Inspector in the South District and spent 8.5 years in the Special Cell handling complex cases. I was honored with the Police Medal for Gallantry by President Pratibha Devisinh Patil on November 23, 2007.

Q: How do you plan to engage the local community to ensure safety and security in Dwarka?
A: I plan to enhance police-community relations by increasing our visibility and addressing concerns proactively. Regular interactions and prompt responses to complaints will help build trust and ensure a safe environment.

Q: Dwarka comprises rural, semi-urban, and urban segments. How do you plan to manage these diverse areas?
A: I will implement a community policing strategy tailored to each area's unique needs. This involves preventive actions, regular interactions, and addressing specific challenges in different segments to provide comprehensive support.

Q: What are your immediate priorities as the SHO of Dwarka North?
A: My immediate priorities are to maintain peace, address emerging issues swiftly, and focus on proactive crime prevention to enhance community well-being.

Q: How do you intend to improve the relationship between the police and the community?
A: Building trust through regular meetings, open communication, and transparency is essential for fostering a strong, cooperative relationship with the community.

Q: Do you have a message for the residents of this area?
A: I encourage residents to foster harmony and resolve conflicts amicably to create a secure and peaceful community.

Q: How can the public support the police in maintaining law and order?
A: Public support is crucial. Residents should report unlawful activities, stay informed about their rights, and engage with community leaders to help build a safer society.
