YOUNG VOICES RISE ROTARY EXTEMPORE SPARKS IDEAS AND INSPIRATION
The Rotary Club of Delhi Govinda organized an engaging Inter School Extempore Speaking Competition classes IX and X at St. Thomas’ School, Dwarka. The event commenced with a traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The event was marked by powerful and enlightening speeches in both English and Hindi by the participants of 15 Rotary Interact schools across Dwarka. The expert judging panel included Ms. Shashi Jain, Retired Chief Manager, GAIL India Limited and Ms. Suparna Sinha, CEO, Innovate. Rtn. Mukesh Sinha, President of Rotary Club of Delhi Govinda was the Guest of Honour joined by Rtn. N C Mishra, Rtn. S P Singh, Rtn. B N Dewan, Rtn. Ashish Jain and Rtn. Kamal Kukreja. Ms. Bhavna Pandey, Director, Youth Affairs and Ms. Ritu Singh, Facilitator, St. Thomas’ School were the conveners of the event.
The young participants proved highly eloquent and passionate. Their energy was inspirational leaving the judges and guests in awe. With random selection of topics and impromptu speeches, participants delivered concise, creative and moving speeches. From critiquing the paradoxical advantage of social media and AI to sensitive social and civic issues of ageism, disability rights, feminism and pollution, participants had a melting pot of opinions. When it came to result compilation, judges remarked that it was a close call, given the intensity of the competition. The Best School Award Plaque was conferred upon Maxfort School, followed by BGS IPS and St. Mary’s, respectively. The winning participants were applauded for their confidence, clarity of thought and spontaneous delivery. The event concluded on a high note, celebrating the spirit of expression and healthy competition.
