Marking a major leap in Delhi’s sports infrastructure, the DDA inaugurated its first Centre for Excellence (CoE) at Dwarka Sector 8 on 8th May, 2025. The event was graced by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Spread across 23.3 acres, the CoE aims to nurture future sports talent with world-class facilities for boxing, wrestling, weightlifting and Taekwondo. A DDA official stated the centre will provide specialized training and coaching to young athletes. The facility houses a modern gym, indoor areas for table tennis, yoga, aerobics, and six synthetic turf courts for lawn tennis and badminton. It also includes four courts each for basketball and pickleball, and two each for netball and volleyball. Additional features include an Olympic-size swimming pool, open-air gym, jogging tracks and planned expansion to include a football ground, hockey turf and skating tracks. The CoE is equipped with a conference hall, high-speed internet, cafeteria, restaurant, and banqueting spaces. DDA is developing three more CoEs in Rohini and Dwarka to support aquatic, tennis, shooting, football, and hockey training.
