Federation of CGHS Dwarka Celebrates Silver Jubilee

The Federation of CGHS Dwarka Ltd marked a significant milestone by celebrating its Silver Jubilee with grandeur and community spirit at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Sector 3, Dwarka. The event witnessed the participation of elected representatives, federation office-bearers, and hundreds of residents from cooperative group housing societies, making it a memorable civic gathering of purpose and pride.

The celebration commenced with an engaging environmental-themed Nukkad Natak, setting the tone for the evening’s focus on civic consciousness and community heritage. A documentary video presentation followed, highlighting Dwarka’s two-decade transformation from a nascent sub-city to a well-established urban locality. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Federation President Rakesh Gupta, symbolizing knowledge, unity, and the journey of progress.

The event’s Chief Guest, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Member of Parliament for West Delhi, was warmly welcomed with a ceremonial planter by Rakesh Gupta. Guests of Honour included MLAs Sandeep Sehrawat and Kuldeep Solanki, Councillors Smt. Seema Pandit and Ram Nivas, as well as special guest Abhishek Ranjan, CEO of BSES. Patron T.P. Maniappan and former Federation President Sudha Sinha also graced the occasion.

Vice President Cdr. V K Jaitly, in a compelling speech, emphasized the urgent need for better civic amenities across Dwarka. He called for the comprehensive installation of pole-lights throughout the sub-city, alongside strategic pruning of overgrown trees and shortening of poles to prevent foliage from obstructing the lighting. “A well-lit Dwarka ensures safety while preserving our cherished greenery,” he stated.

President Rakesh Gupta addressed several pressing civic and financial issues confronting CGHS residents. He passionately demanded the restoration of the 20% property tax rebate for the fiscal year 2025–26, terming it essential for easing society expenses. He also urged the withdrawal of unjust user charges, imposed alongside property taxes without any corresponding services, and criticized the Environment Damage Compensation (EDC) notices that have created substantial financial distress for many societies.

Another critical appeal was for the reinstatement of the rainwater harvesting subsidy, abruptly withdrawn by the Delhi Jal Board. Gupta argued that such initiatives should be supported rather than penalized, particularly in the context of Delhi’s growing water crisis. “These demands are not just financial concerns; they directly affect the quality of life of thousands of residents,” Gupta affirmed.
In response, MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat assured the audience that these concerns would be taken up promptly with the relevant civic and governmental bodies.
A strong cultural and heritage message resonated through the event, particularly in the focus on the historic Dwarka Baoli located in Sector 12. Federation leaders urged the government to officially recognize it as a protected heritage site and expedite its restoration, maintenance, and the development of tourism-friendly facilities. They envisioned the centuries-old stepwell becoming a vibrant cultural destination that honours Dwarka’s historic roots.

A short film by Diyaa Solanki, beautifully chronicling Dwarka’s journey and the legacy of the Baoli, was screened to great appreciation. The film’s visuals and storytelling powerfully reinforced the collective call for heritage preservation.
To commemorate the silver jubilee, a specially designed souvenir was released by the Chief Guest, encapsulating the journey, vision, and commitment of the Federation to Dwarka’s civic evolution.

The event was a powerful blend of celebration, advocacy, and cultural pride marking not just 25 years of growth, but also setting the tone for the future of citizen-led development in Dwarka.

"Our Silver Jubilee marks 25 years of unwavering commitment to the welfare of Dwarka’s residents. This celebration is not just about our past achievements, but a reaffirmation of our future goals. We have consistently worked to improve civic amenities, advocate for residents’ rights, and build a stronger community voice. From demanding restoration of the property tax rebate to championing heritage preservation like the Dwarka Baoli, our efforts reflect the needs and aspirations of every society. I thank all stakeholders for their support and pledge to continue driving positive change and inclusive development across Dwarka."

"The Federation of CGHS Dwarka has played a transformative role in improving civic life for thousands of residents. During my tenure, we focused on resolving key issues such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, and securing the property tax rebate. We also strengthened collaboration among housing societies, encouraging collective action and awareness. Our advocacy led to visible improvements in infrastructure and resident welfare. I’m especially proud of our efforts to preserve heritage, including the historic Dwarka Baoli. I commend the current team for upholding this legacy and continuing to champion the rights and needs of Dwarka’s residents."
