Prakash Purab marks the birth anniversary of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the founder of Sikhism. It is a day of reverence and reminder for the devotees to follow the teachings of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in a town named Rai- Bhoi-Di-Talwandi, now called Nankana Sahib, near Lahore in Pakistan in 1469. On this auspicious day, devotees around the world gather at Gurudwaras to celebrate Guru's Birthday and his teachings. Gurudwaras are decorated gracefully and devotees chant sacred hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji showed us the path of peace and harmony. Guru Sahib constantly emphasized three fundamental principles: always assisting the poor and needy, living honestly, and remembering God’s name. He advised people to be guided by love and global brotherhood rather than wrath, greed, and selfishness.
InderJeet Singh, Joint Secretary, Sri Guru Singh Sabha.
I have been member of the Gurudwara Singh Sabha. This is the biggest festival for us like Diwali or Christmas. We have been following the principles and teachings of Guru Nanak Devji, which has stood the test of time for last 556 years. Equality, fairness and oneness are the major principles and everyone follows these here. Guru Naak ji gave us three principal-Naam Japo, tirath karo and sewa karo and we are following these three principals here. At Gurudwara eminent Ragi Jathas from Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, are performing Gurbani Kirtan throughout the day and evening. Children, women, and youth from Dwarka’s Sangat are also actively participating, adding great spiritual fervour to the celebration. Around 15,000 to 16,000 devotees visited the Gurdwara. We have made elaborate arrangements for Langar, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to all visitors. The Delhi Police, Traffic Police, and our dedicated volunteers are extending full support to ensure smooth crowd management and safety.
