Dwarka City News
The Delhi Police have solved a blind murder case that emerged from a missing person complaint, arresting four accused, including a woman, for the brutal killing of a 48-year-old businessman, Anroop Gupta, who ran a canteen at Chhattisgarh Sadan in Sector-13 Dwarka.
Gupta was murdered on February 18 after being lured to a flat in Matiala Extension by the prime accused, Honey alias Suraj (29), who had befriended him a year ago. Along with his live-in partner Rakhi (21) and associates Bhupender, Balram and Neeraj, Honey planned to rob Gupta of his gold ornaments and extort money. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Addl. DCP said, “The victim was missing on the 17th but his brother informed us on the 23rd. A police team formed to find Gupta. We first approached the National Highways Authority of India and obtained details related to the car’s movements. They found that the car had travelled on the Yamuna Expressway in the intervening night of February 19th and 20th. The scanning of CCTV footage revealed that the car had gone to Vrindavan and returned to Noida within a few hours.” Police said Gupta was held hostage, tied up and assaulted. After taking his gold jewellery, the accused stabbed him to death when he refused to pay further money. His body was later chopped into pieces, packed in plastic bags and dumped in the Yamuna in Vrindavan the following night. To mislead investigators, the accused sent messages from Gupta’s phone to his staff and family, claiming he was going on a vacation. A breakthrough came after CCTV analysis and tracking of his car movements via the Yamuna Expressway led police to the accused. The body parts were recovered on February 28th. Four accused have been arrested, while one, Neeraj, remains absconding.
