CEILING FALLS DANGEROUSLY at Vimal Apartment, Sector 12

Serious concerns have been raised by residents of Vimal Apartment, Plot No. 3, Sector 12 after a portion of the roof in one of the flats No. ………suffered extensive damage, exposing the steel reinforcement bars and leaving the tenant worried about their safety. According to the tenant, the condition of the ceiling appears to have deteriorated over time. The exposed reinforcement and damaged concrete have raised fears of further collapse, especially during the monsoon season. Such damages are associated with prolonged water seepage, ageing of the structure or inadequate maintenance. The landlady has urged the management and the concerned civic authorities to conduct an immediate structural safety audit of the building. She has also demanded that all vulnerable sections of the roof/ Apartment be inspected and repaired without delay to prevent any untoward incident. According to the information, the apartment has been damaged due to the poor construction quality and owners are suffering for the last 5-6 years. The management is trying their best to get the apartment refurbished and renovated with the financial assistance by the members but still lacks the safety standard of the cooperative living. The situation is precarious but it seems the residents are ready to risk their lives and properties.
