RAVAN DAHAN BRINGS DUSSEHRA MAHOTSAV TO A SPECTACULAR CLOSE

A wave of excitement swept across Dwarka as thousands of residents gathered to witness the dramatic finale of the 24th Dwarka Ramleela Mahotsav. With towering effigies of Raavan, Meghnad and Kumbhkaran dominating the skyline, the DDA ground in Sector- 11, adjoining the Sports Complex, transformed into a vibrant arena of devotion, celebration and cultural splendour. The much-awaited Raavan Dahan on October- 20 brought ten days of festivities, held from October 9th to 20th, to a memorable close.
Organised by the Association of Social and Cultural Events in Dwarka, the annual celebration brought families, children and senior citizens together to witness Lord Ram’s victory over Raavan. The grand finale reminded everyone that arrogance, injustice and evil ultimately give way to truth and righteousness.
The organisers raised the bar with a magnificent 70-foot effigy of Raavan, flanked by 60-foot figures of Meghnad and Kumbhkaran. Adorned in vibrant colours and intricate detailing, the towering figures captivated thousands of visitors.
Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, National President of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha and Sant Mahasabha, attended the Raavan Dahan ceremony as chief guest. He highlighted the religious and cultural significance of Dussehra, congratulated organisers Mukesh and Sudha Sinha by presenting them with ceremonial patkas and felicitated the Ramleela artists.
As dusk settled over Sector-11, excitement reached its peak. Families filled the ground while children eagerly awaited the grand finale. Despite restrictions on conventional firecrackers, the festive atmosphere remained electric.
A collective countdown of “Three… Two… One!” triggered thunderous cheers as organisers presented a pollution-free spectacle featuring digitally generated firecracker sounds, advanced sound effects and dazzling laser displays. The innovative presentation combined technology with cultural tradition, creating a memorable experience for spectators.
Following Raavan Dahan, Swami Chakrapani Maharaj performed the Rajyabhishek of Lord Ram, ceremonially crowning him as king.
Elaborate security arrangements were made for the massive gathering. Dwarka Police coordinated with organisers to maintain safety and ensure smooth celebrations.
DCP Dwarka said, “Dussehra celebrations are growing in popularity every year. Delhi Police remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of everyone attending such major events. We appreciate the cooperation of organisers and the public in maintaining discipline and ensuring the smooth conduct of celebrations.”
“Dussehra is a significant Hindu festival symbolising the victory of good over evil. Raavan was killed because he disrespected a woman. We must eliminate the Raavan of anger, lust and pride within ourselves. This is the true meaning of Dussehra. The efficient organisation and overwhelming public participation reflect people's enduring faith in our cultural traditions.”

“Dussehra holds immense cultural and religious significance. We have been organising these celebrations in Dwarka for several decades, and it is a matter of pride that the event has evolved into a landmark occasion. We thank all residents, supporters, volunteers and participants whose cooperation made this year's celebration a grand success,”
“The Dussehra celebrations have become a talking point across Delhi. The enthusiasm of volunteers, visitors, advertisers, vendors and everyone associated with the event inspires us to return each year with greater energy and more attractive celebrations. Their continued support motivates us to make future editions even more memorable,”
Sudha Sinha, Convenor

The 24th Dwarka Ramleela Mahotsav concluded amid cheers and festive excitement, bringing the curtain down on ten days of devotion, cultural performances and enthusiastic public participation. Beyond the towering effigies and spectacular effects, the celebration reinforced the timeless message of Dussehra: truth and righteousness ultimately triumph over evil, and the greatest victory lies in overcoming the Raavan within ourselves.
