STAGE SET TO UNVEIL DWARKA CITY DIRECTORY AND HONOUR TORCH BEARERS OF DWARKA
The stage is all set today to host the most coveted award of Dwarka- the Torch Bearer of Dwarka Awards. Also, the 18th edition of the Dwarka City Directory will be formally unveiled today at the CCRT Auditorium, Sector-7, in a grand ceremony. Hosted by Dwarka City, the annual event has come to symbolise excellence, inspiration and community spirit in the sub-city. Organised and started by Sudha and Mukesh Sinha, Mg. Editors of Dwarka City, the 18th Torch Bearer of Dwarka Award ceremony promises to be a much-awaited event in the city. The annual ceremony attracts wide attention, especially from students and teachers who eagerly participate and compete for the prestigious awards, making it a celebration of talent, achievement and community recognition. The Chief Guest this year is Dr. Mahesh Verma, Padma Shree Awardee and Vice Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh IP University. The unveiling of the Dwarka City Directory, marks yet another milestone in its remarkable journey. Over nearly two decades, the Directory has evolved into a trusted companion for residents - a meticulously compiled, user-friendly ready reckoner that captures the ever-expanding landscape of Dwarka. The continued success of its previous 17 editions bears testimony to its relevance, accuracy and indispensability in daily life. Packed with comprehensive and updated information, the Directory brings together vital contact details -addresses, phone numbers and email IDs -of essential services across Dwarka. From schools, hospitals, chemists, banks, restaurants and retail outlets to emergency services such as police, ambulances, doctors, water and power utilities, MCD and DDA offices, the Directory places crucial information right at residents’ fingertips. Dedicated sections on educational institutions, government organisations, hospitality services, hotels and restaurants further enhance its utility.
In a rapidly growing sub-city dotted with malls, specialty stores and food courts across sectors, the Directory serves as a reliable guide. Whether one is searching for a quick birthday gift, a favourite eatery, the nearest ATM, or an urgent courier service, the Dwarka City Directory helps residents navigate their needs with ease -making it a must-have in every home. The evening, however, will shine brightest with the Torch Bearers of Dwarka Awards Ceremony, a celebration that honours those who illuminate the path of excellence and inspire others to follow. Over the years, these awards have grown into one of the most coveted recognitions in Dwarka, especially among students, setting a gold standard for achievement in academics, sports and co-curricular pursuits. This year too, the response has been overwhelming, with a lot of nominations from across schools and institutions. To ensure transparency and merit-based selection, shortlisted nominees in the Education Award category were invited for personal interactions with an eminent jury panel. The interviews were conducted on 12th January in a professional yet encouraging environment at Uncover Avenue Café, Sector-13. Each nominee was assessed not only on achievements reflected on paper, but also on clarity of thought, vision, values, leadership qualities and overall personality. The nominees highlighted their achievements and shared their experiences. Scores were given based on achievements and personal interview. Each nominee was given adequate time and questions were put up by the jury on wide variety of topics to assess their capabilities. The jury after a detailed interview of all nominees decided the final winners and sealed the envelope. Emphasising the integrity of the selection process, Sudha Sinha, Managing Editor, Dwarka City, said, “The awards reached the most decisive phase, where each nomination was examined with utmost objectivity and care. With an exceptionally high number of entries across categories, the process of scrutiny, verification and personal interaction has been conducted with complete fairness and transparency. Every nominee has demonstrated commendable dedication and achievement and the final selection rests solely on merit. In the truest sense, may the most deserving emerge as the Torch Bearer.” Highlighting the credibility and stature of the initiative, Mukesh Sinha, Managing Editor, Dwarka City, said, “Over the years, the Directory launch and the Torch Bearers of Dwarka Awards have evolved into respected annual benchmarks in Dwarka’s civic life. The steady flow of enquiries from as early as July reflects the trust and faith people place in this process. While awards can be conferred on only a few, every nomination represents excellence and effort worthy of recognition. Each nominee, awardee or not, contributes meaningfully to Dwarka’s journey of growth, responsibility and achievement.” Now the wait is on for the award ceremony where only the best will be given an award in each category.
Here’s what few jury members say about the interview process-
“ I am extremely happy to be a part of the Dwarka City Torchbearer Award. I sincerely thank Dwarka City for giving me this opportunity. Interacting with the students was a wonderful experience - their confidence and level of preparation were truly impressive. The platform provided by Dwarka City to showcase such young talent is commendable. This was a first-of-its-kind experience for me and the three hours spent with the students were enriching, with many takeaways for us as well.
Ms. Anuradha Singh
Headword Publishing Co., ABP Education
I was proud to serve as a jury member for the 18th Torch Bearers of Dwarka Award today, where I interviewed around 15 schoolgirl candidates for excellence in academics. The arrangements made by Dwarka City were very well organised. The overall environment and weather added to the pleasant experience. However, one observation saddened me. Despite our Hon’ble Prime Minister often speaking about building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, I was surprised to find that many students were unaware of this vision. This is concerning, as these students are the future of our nation. I also felt that the interview duration of 10 minutes per candidate was too short, ideally, 15–20 minutes would allow for a better understanding of each student. Overall, it was a well-conducted event.”
Subbiah Sridhar, Former Diplomat & Writer
I am the Founder of Star Kids Sports and I had the privilege of serving on the Sports Jury today. The environment here is excellent for children and platforms like this are extremely important for nurturing young talent. Events like these allow us to discover new abilities in children and discuss their potential future in sports. When children get such opportunities, it sparks interest in them and motivates them to see how far they can excel in sports. As mentors, it also encourages us to think about creating more such platforms to support and guide their growing passion.

The diversity of talent we witnessed was truly impressive. From creative arts to technology and innovation, each student brought something unique to the table. Judging was difficult because every participant demonstrated passion, originality and dedication.
Ms Swati Khanwalkar, Journalist
I am delighted to be part of today’s event, observing the performances of students in the co-curricular category. Every child we met was unique and I truly admired the passion and dedication they brought to their work. Judging was a challenge because each student shone in their own way, whether in music, IT, AI, or theatre. I sincerely hope that parents, educators and professionals like us continue to come together to support and encourage these young minds, who are the future of our country.

I had the honor of serving on the jury to select the top sportspersons of the city. The entire process was truly impressive - extremely well-organized, smooth and enjoyable. We had the opportunity to meet students from schools across Dwarka and I must say, their talent and dedication were remarkable. Platforms like these not only showcase young athletes’ abilities but also inspire them to push their limits. After careful evaluation, we were able to identify the most outstanding sportsperson of Dwarka. It’s encouraging to see such enthusiasm and potential in the city’s youth, and I am confident that these athletes will go on to achieve great milestones.

What stood out most was the students’ sense of responsibility towards society. Their understanding of social issues and willingness to contribute meaningfully reflects strong values being nurtured at school and community levels. This initiative deserves appreciation for encouraging socially conscious leadership.
