LG Pushes Vision to Transform Dwarka into Global Events and Business Destination
In a major step towards redefining Delhi’s urban landscape, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to prepare a comprehensive roadmap to develop Dwarka as a global hub for international events, business and cultural activities. Highlighting Dwarka’s strategic importance, the LG pointed to its proximity to Indira Gandhi International Airport and seamless connectivity through key infrastructure such as Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). These advantages, he noted, make Dwarka an ideal destination for hosting international conventions, exhibitions and business summits. He emphasised the need for world-class infrastructure, including modern convention centres, premium hospitality facilities, and well-planned green spaces. Landmark developments like Yashobhoomi and Bharat Vandana Park are expected to serve as key drivers in positioning Dwarka on the global map. The roadmap will focus on strengthening civic infrastructure, improving mobility and ensuring sustainable development. It also aims to attract multinational companies and global stakeholders, thereby boosting economic activity and generating employment opportunities. This initiative is set to transform Dwarka into a vibrant global destination while helping decongest central Delhi and enhancing the overall quality of urban life.
