MCD Extends Property Tax Rebate Deadline Till July 31
In a significant relief for property owners across the national capital, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended the deadline for availing the 10% rebate on lump-sum payment of Property Tax for the Financial Year 2026-27. As per an office order issued by the Assessment & Collection Department (HQ), taxpayers can now avail the rebate by making the payment on or before July 31, 2026. Earlier, the last date for claiming the rebate was June 30, 2026.
The extension has been granted for a further period of one month to provide convenience to taxpayers and encourage timely payment of property tax. The MCD has stated that the decision was taken with the approval of the competent authority, keeping in view the interests of citizens who may not have been able to complete the payment process within the original deadline.
The Assessment & Collection Department has directed all its officers and officials to ensure that taxpayers do not face any inconvenience during the extended period. Necessary assistance will be provided to facilitate smooth collection of property tax and to help citizens complete the process without difficulty.
The civic body has also appealed to taxpayers to avoid waiting until the last few days and instead make their payments well before the revised deadline. Early payment will help residents avoid last-minute rush, technical issues and unnecessary delays.
The extension is expected to benefit lakhs of residential, commercial and institutional property owners across Delhi, including residents of Dwarka, Najafgarh, Matiala and Bijwasan. Resident Welfare Associations and citizen groups have welcomed the move, noting that the additional time will allow more taxpayers to avail themselves of the rebate and fulfil their tax obligations conveniently.
With the revised deadline now set for July 31, 2026, eligible property owners can continue to avail the 10% rebate on lump-sum payment of their property tax for the current financial year, providing both financial savings and an incentive for timely compliance.
