Potholed Road Worsen Commuters' Woes in Sector 5

The condition of a road in Sector 5 has deteriorated significantly, with deep potholes and a damaged surface creating serious inconvenience for motorists and pedestrians. Following the recent rains, water has accumulated in the potholes, making the stretch even more hazardous and increasing the risk of accidents. Residents said the road has remained in poor condition for a considerable period and the rainfall has only aggravated the problem. The stagnant water conceals the depth of the potholes, forcing motorists to slow down abruptly or swerve to avoid them, leading to traffic disruptions and the possibility of collisions. Two-wheeler riders are particularly vulnerable, as hidden potholes can cause them to lose balance. The uneven surface has also affected pedestrians, who find it difficult to navigate the waterlogged stretch. Residents fear that continued neglect will result in further deterioration of the road and increased repair costs.

"The road has become a patchwork of potholes. After every spell of rain, the potholes fill with water, making it impossible to judge their depth. It is a serious safety hazard," said Sunil Upadhayay, a resident. Another commuter Hiren Swami remarked, "Temporary patchwork is no longer enough. The road requires complete re-carpeting so that people can travel safely, especially during the monsoon."
