WORD PRO SEASON 6 INTER SCHOOL ENGLISH QUIZ ‘A BATTLE OF WORDS’ – GRAND FINALE



Grand Finale of prestigious -Word Pro 2023 ‘A Battle of Words’ English Olympiad was held on 1st September 2023 in the auditorium of Sri Venkateshwar International School, Sector 18, Dwarka.

Ms. Sudha Sinha, Managing Editor of Dwarka City Newspaper and Ms. Bhavna Pandey, Founder –Word Pro were the hosts of the event.

The Director of SVIS – Ms. Nita Arora and her amazing team that included the principal Ms Malini Gujral, Head Mistress of junior wing Ms. Vineet Tomar and teachers, provided support to the team ‘Word Pro’ to ensure that the program went off smoothly and was enjoyed by all attendees. Chief guest of the Word Pro Grand Finale was Vineet Gupta, the founder of Ashoka University, Plaksha University and Jamboree Education. DCP of Dwarka M. Harsha Vardhan, Chairman of  SVIS Sailander Solanki, Chairman of Venkateshwar World School, Pune - Nagender Solanki and Mukesh Sinha, Mg. Editor were amongst the distinguished guests of honour. They were all overwhelmed with the level of preparation and overall confidence of the finalists.

The jury comprised of eminent personalities from the field of education and journalism- Ms. Suman Saxena, Ms. Swati Khanwalkar and Ms. Reeta Mathur. During this event, Vineet Gupta, Ms. Nita Arora, and Mukesh Sinha also unveiled the Ek Mutthi newsletter which is a compilation of the social work done by student volunteers from 16 schools who were nominated by their schools for Indian Wheelchair Premier League held in June. 23 prominent schools participated in this season of Word Pro competition. Approximately 14000 Young students of classes 6-8 were engaged in the first round. Online exam round 2 was held in the month of August Bright young super achievers of participating schools were invited with their teachers, to witness an engrossing Live quiz where the toppers of each school, tested their preparation, composure and word knowledge. There were exciting rounds and the champs were extremely well prepared. So much so that two tie breaking rounds had to be conducted before the top three winners of the competition emerged. The enthusiasm and excitement amongst the children and accompanying teachers was evident. Sragvi Bhatnagar of Nirmal Bhartia School won the title of Word Pro Champ 2023 and prize cheque of INR 10000. 

Sragvi’s joy knew no bounds when the results were announced and shock, surprise and happiness was written on his face when he came running on the stage to take the prize. He said, “Throughout the journey of Word Pro, I got to learn many new words and brushed up on my existing knowledge. I found this competition to be an exquisite method of mapping myself and where I stand in comparison to others.” 

Kuval Anand, Sri Venkateshwar International School was the 1st Runner Up and received a cheque of INR 7000. Excited Kunal stated, “I enjoyed participating in this competition and owe my achievement to my teachers and parents. Word pro gave me an opportunity to go beyond my comfort zone and explore new words that I never knew existed. This platform has helped me in refining my linguistic skills to new levels.”

Tanmay Kumar, St. Mary’s School was adjudged as 2nd Runner Up and received a cheque of INR 5000. Tanmay who was all smiles said, “I always wanted to win this unique competition and it has played a vital role in enriching my vocabulary. I am elated beyond words and grateful for the support and encouragement received from my principal and teachers.” 

All three champs were also awarded glittering Winner trophies, medals and certificates of excellence 29 students of different schools scored full marks in the Word Pro Olympiad -Season 6 and were declared as WORD PRO TITANS. All the other performing students were felicitated with medals and trophies for their commendable performance in the exam.

Six schools were commended for their excellent performance in Word Pro Olympiad. Editors Citation was awarded to St. Thomas’ School, St. Mary’s School, and ML Khanna DAV Public School for their excellent participation. Top-Performing Schools award was presented to Venkateshwar International School, Sri Venkateshwar School and Maxfort School for the outstanding results of their students.

During the Grand Finale few performances were put up by the talented children of SVIS. Bhavika Panigrahi presented a riveting Odissi dance performance, Pihu Gautam and Akshaj Singh impressed the audience with their brilliant poem recitation. Young Aryaman Kaushik was very impressive in his role as a MC and was much-admired for the energy he projected on mic.

Vineet Gupta-Founder Jamboree Education, Ashoka and Plaksha University was impressed by the level of the competition and said, “In the formative years of the young students, participation in competitions like WORD PRO are very critical. In order to be successful in life, children should read regularly and develop some extracurricular skills which helps in shaping the right attitude.”

DCP M. Harsha Vardhan congratulated the participants on their phenomenal performance, “Word Pro is giving good exposure to students to improve their knowledge. Indians have been performing well in international competitions and Dwarka City newspaper has provided a platform like this which will certainly help them in all spheres of life.”

Sailander Solanki-Chairman Sri Venkateshwar International School said, “Word Pro Quiz is growing In stature and could well become an international competition in coming few years.”

Ms. Bhavna Pandey -Founder of WORD PRO said “Today’s quiz was a culmination of a true ‘Battle of Words’ where students displayed astounding preparation and we witnessed a nail-biting competition at each level. WORD PRO has been designed to make learning enjoyable and gives exposure to young learners. Participation in a healthy competition of this magnitude prepares them for future challenges.”
