DWARKA GEARS UP FOR 6TH EDITION OF INDIAN WHEELCHAIR PREMIER LEAGUE

Dwarka City, under the banner of Ek Mutthi, is once again preparing to host the Indian Wheelchair Premier League (IWPL). This marks the sixth edition of the tournament, which first began in 2018 as a unique and path-breaking event in the sub-city. Inspired by the format of the popular IPL, the IWPL aimed to offer a platform for specially-abled cricketers and quickly gained recognition among cricket enthusiasts in Delhi and beyond. Following the successful conduct of IWPL in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024, Dwarka-Delhi is now set to host the 6th season, organised by Ek Mutthi Trust in collaboration with the Divyang Cricket Control Board of India (DCCBI). The IWPL has, over the years, attracted widespread attention and appreciation, with dignitaries and well-known personalities lending their support to the cause.

The IWPL-6 will be held from 7th to 14th June 2025 at Bal Bhavan International School, Sector 12, Dwarka. Mukesh Sinha, Managing Editor of Dwarka City, is the convenor of the event. The celebrations have already begun with a series of exciting pre-tournament events organized by Dwarka City for Ek Mutthi IWPL Season 6. The countdown officially began with a vibrant and spirited poster launch held at the Sector 17 DDA Sports Complex, Dwarka. A special function was also recently held to mark another milestone - the unveiling of the coveted IWPL Season 6 trophy. The glittering trophy was revealed in a grand ceremony attended by several distinguished guests. Among the chief guests were ACP Kishore Kumar Rewla, Rtn. Suresh Gupta (Maharaja Agrasen Hospital) and Rajender Singh (Ex-ACP), who joined as the Special Guest. The event also welcomed K.K. Bansal, Chairman of Abhinav Global School, Md. Rashid, Secretary of DCCBI and several other prominent figures from the Dwarka community.  Mukesh Sinha stated, “Preparations are in full swing to host the 7days para sports event, Indian Wheelchair Premier League-6, in June 2025, featuring eight teams at Bal Bhavan International School, Sector-12, Dwarka, New Delhi. IWPL-6 is conceptualised along the lines of the IPL, offering a platform for differently-abled individuals to showcase their sportsmanship and skill. In the past, we’ve received immense support from the residents of Dwarka, Delhi, and NCR. We hope for similar encouragement this year as well.” A total of eight teams will participate in the tournament, with around 150 players from various states showcasing their talent and determination. Mukesh Sinha further added, “This year’s event will be bigger and more special. We’re also adding more entertainment for the audience. The opening day will feature a friendly match. There will be eight teams with 15 players each. Regular matches will be of 15 overs, while the semifinals and final will be played as 20-over games. I appeal to all Dwarkaites to come and cheer for the players.”
